Principium Volume I, Book 2, Quote 87, 93

87. To split or decentralize power is necessary to reduce the absolute amount of power, and the competitive system is the only system designed to minimize by decentralization the power exercised by man over man (Refer to the design of the American Constitution)ATJ.

- F. A. Hayek – The Road to Serfdom, 1944

(This is important to economic power as well as political power.)ATJ

93. (Methods of the collectivist left – Socialists)ATJ It is not difficult to deprive the great majority of independent thought. But the minority who will retain an inclination to criticize must also be silenced…. Since many parts of this code will never be explicitly stated, since many parts of the guiding scale of values will exist only implicitly in the plan, the plan itself in every detail, in fact every act of the government must become sacrosanct and exempt from criticism. If people are to support the common effort without hesitation, they must be convinced that not only the end aimed at but also the means chosen are the right ones. The official creed, to which adherence must be enforced, will therefore comprise all the views about facts on which the plan is based. Public criticism or even expressions of doubt must be suppressed because they tend to weaken public support. As the Webbs report of the position in every Russian enterprise: “Whilst the work is in progress, any public expression of doubt, or even fear that the plan will not be successful, is an act of disloyalty and even of treachery because of its possible effects on the will and on the efforts of the rest of the staff.” When the doubt or fear expressed concerns not the success of a particular enterprise but of the whole social plan, it must be treated even more as sabotage.

- F. A. Hayek – The Road to Serfdom, 1944

(Imagine, this is how some would lead us to accept ideologies that were shunned at the founding of our nation. This process can be witnessed in the rhetoric and attacks made by the Democratic party, as seen most acutely with the outspoken conservative talk radio show host, Rush Limbaugh, tea party groups, and others. Silence the opposition, demand conformity by persuasion, bribes, or coercion.)ATJ (This previous statement was in 2009, now it is 2013 and one can distinctly see the power of the government apparatus being used in the form of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), etc., to silence dissenting opinion. There is a great effort to convince the people that whatever the government does is right and you better not question it.)ATJ (Now, in 2020, the quote above seems almost prophetic, but history is repetitive because humanity has a short-sighted memory of the past that has already exposed the results of certain choices. Your choices are your own, but consequences are sure to follow. See, now, how the collectivist mind control has accelerated, where obedience to the narrative is sacrosanct. Open your mind, seek principles of freedom and liberty - seek and you will find them. They lay about use as gold nuggets among the sands.)ATJ

Principium Volume III, Book 13, Quote 1331 and 1334

1331. (3-3-2011) (The book “On Power” is going to be much more cerebral and feel abstract, but lend your mental faculties to it and bits of truth begin to come. Like the leaks in a dam, dike, or levy,
